Cultured cells of Stachylidium bicolor was applied to Reichstein's compound S, deoxycorticosterone, 14α, 21-dihydroxypregn-4-ene-3,20-dione, and corticosterone. The compound S produced hydrocortisone, deoxycorticosterone produced 11β-and 14α-hydroxylated compounds, and 14α, 21-dihydroxypregn-4-ene-3,20-dione gave the 11β-hydroxy compound. Oxidation product was not obtained from corticosterone.
