The Japanese species of the subgenera Chartolobus, Apatia, Phylacter and Oulophus are reviewed. Eight species are recognized, and five of them, H. (A.) truncator, H. (A.) truncatoides, H. (O.) flagitator, H. (O.) bohemani and H. (O.) annulatus, are recorded from Japan for the first time. A key to the Japanese species of the genus Homolobus is also presented.
