The age structure in the population and the mortality in each developmental stage were analysed with respect to the population density in Tribolium confusum Duval under the experimental conditions of 30℃ and 70% R.H. The adult number in the population was artificially kept constant at several densities for 59 weeks renewing 20 g of wheat flour fortnightly. The age structure in the population seemed to be stabilized after the lapse of 19 weeks from the start of experiment. The number of individuals in each developmental stage was examined in the population at different adult densities, and the mortality in each stage was analysed. The number of total eggs laid in the population was estimated from the l_x- and m_x-curves. The mortality was the highest in the egg stage which was followed by that in the pupal stage. Both the mortalities depended upon the adult density and were probably caused by the adult cannibalism. The larval mortality was low and independent of the adult density. Adult mortality was low but was slightly affected by the adult density, and the adults seemed to complete the natural span of their physiological longevity. The equilibrium density of the population was about 300 as estimated from the crossing point of the two curves which represented the relationships of the number of adults produced and that of adults dead to the adult density.
