We described the third, second and first instar larvae of Parena (Parena) perforata (Bates) on the basis of specimens determined both "ex ovipositione" and "ex evolutione imaginis". The species is known as a predator of the larvae of the mulberry tiger moth, Spilosoma imparilis Butler. We observed that the adult beetles also fed the larvae of the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea Drury. The first instar larvae were obtained on the 22nd of September by breeding of the beetles which were collected in Nagano Prefecture, Central Honshu, on the 6th to 8th of September. Some of them became the third instar on the 29th of September to the 1st of October. In mulberry fields in Nagano Prefecture we found the rather many third and second instar larvae on the 5th of October, though found neither the adult nor the first instar larva. From twenty-two full grown larvae put in ten flower-pots on the 27th of October, only seven adults emerged on the 4th to 21st of May in the next year.
