In the stereoscopic observation of the images taken by the method of rotation of an opposed X-ray source and image receptor around an object or the rotation of an object itself with X-ray and image receptor combination fixed, the equations that indicate the location of the stereoscopic image point which corresponds with a point of the object are derived analytically and geometrically. The results are visualized using examples by computer graphics to see how the stereoscopic image with the method is observed. The equations and graphics show that the stereoscopic image by this method necessarily distort convexly or concavely along the horizontal direction. To minimize other distortions, the following conditions are necessary according to the equations. (1) Directions of X-ray exposure and observation are coincident. (2) Rotation angle in radian is equal to the value of inter-pupil distance divided by the focal spot to film distance. (3) Observation distance is equal to the focal spot to film distance. Two images for both eyes equivalent to the stereo-radiographs of a rectangular wire frame taken by the method in usual parameters are also drawn by the computer. By stereoscopic observation of the images, the above-mentioned matters can be comfirmed. As the convex or concave distortion is not recognized in the observation, the three conditions give stereoscopic image with practically no distortion in the examples.
