Chloropidae (Diptera) of Panaitan and the Krakatau Islands, Indonesia

A total of 7 chloropid species were collected in 1982 by the Japanese expedition teams on the Krakatau Islands of Indonesia elapsed almost 100 years after the world-famous big eruption in 1883. They are listed together with notes on their taxonomic and morphological features, distribution and collecting data. One new species of Chromatopterum is described, and details of male genitalia of 3 known species are illustrated for identification. The total number of species recorded on the Krakataus increased from 5 in the 1930s to 11 in 1982, and the chloropid fauna is characterized by the dominance of saprophagous and littoral sarcophagous species.
