Some descriptions are given in the following lines on a fossil shrimp taken from the neocene tertiary deposit (tuffite) in the upper course district of the River Sakamoto, a branch of the River Shizukuishi, which flows into the River Kitakami at morioka, Iwate Prefecture. The fossil keeps rather good in general feature. It measures about 66.4mm in body-length without rostrum. Judging from the shapes of the appendages of the pleon, tail fan, and thoracic legs, it may be identified to the suborder Natantia. Also it is sure that the fossil is not referable to the tribe Stenopidea, since the body-shells including carapace are without numerous spines on them and slender third legs which is large and chelate in the tribe. But it is impossible to know that the fossil belongs to which tribe Penaeidea or Caridea because of the shape the pleura of the second pleonic somite, the most important trait for the identification of those two tribes, is hardly defined.
