The present paper is to report the observations on the morphogenetic relationship between the redifferentiation of the silver line system and the behavior of the sudanophilic spherical bodies and of the methylene blue (or neutral red) positive granules of Vorticella microstoma from the precystic stage up to the excysting stage. It was shown that the cytoplasm of the present species at the precystic stage prior to the encystment is packed densely with a number of the sudanophilc spherical bodies. During the encystment, the protoplasm of the cyst is enveloped by the two cyst membranes, at which outer side an ectocyst is formed by the change of the pellicle and an endocyst at the inner is done by the change of many minute granules (the primary granules) which derive from the above mentioned bodies. On the surface of the protoplasm surrounded with the endocyst there is the renewed pellicle, whose formation takes place along with the disappearence of the secondary granules that are produced from the furface of the spherical bodies. Accordingly, each body's central core is exposed. Later, the ciliary apparatus (the transverse ridges and the kinetosomes on them) develops on the newly produced pellicle. Many transverse ridges from the cytostome side to the anal region are performed by the growth of the fine thread which connects each small process produced on the exposed central core of all the bodies, which are migrated so as to be arranged beneath the pellicle. The production of the kinetosomes is followed by the development of the transverse ridges. The methylene blue (or neutral red) positive granules which appear newly during the cystic stage are arranged along each transverse ridge and on the surface of the granules there is formed a minute process similar to that of the spherical bodies. Theh, the process attaches itself on the ridge and changes itself into the kinetosome. As the result, the silver line system is reconstructed, and the kinetosomes are arranged in an orderly way at interval of 2-3μ on the many transverse ridges which extend in a parallel from the cytostome to the anal region.
