The Genus Metalimnus Ribaut, 1948, is a genus segregated from the Genus Paralimnus Matsumura, 1902. I revised the two genera and knew that they are not related ones as mentioned in the following key, although they are very similar in some characters. 1 (6) Head with a whitish band in the cephalic margin, both sides fo which are infuscated Pronotum with lateral margins of moderate length. Apex of fore wing rounded. Male plates touched each other in their inner margins. Tenth segment sclerotized dorsally. Connective Y-shaped. Aedeagus tapering distally though the apex is not pointed, with one or two small apical processes ventrad. Other characters as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. …Genus Paralimnus Matsumura, 1902 (Fig. 1) 2 (5) Fore wing without any clear white marking on veins. 3 (4) Body and fore wing light dark brownish. This species must be reexamined when the male specimen is obtained in the future. The Korean and European specimens reported may probably be some different allied species.) 6 (1) Head without any whitish band in the cephalic margin. Pronotum with very short lateral margins. Apex of fore wing truncated. Male plates separated each other in their inner margins. Tenth segment not sclerotized dorsally. Connective not Y-shaped ("linear type"). Aedeagus tapering to a point, with a dorsal and a ventral projections, without any apical process. Other characters as figured…Genus Metalimnus Ribaut, 1948 (Fig. 3) A single known species, the orthotype:…M. formosus (Boheman, 1845) (Fig. 3) (Distr.: Hokkaido, Honshu, Siberia, Europe, etc.). Explanation of figures a, Head and thorax, dorsal view; b, Face; c, Fore wing; d, Hind wing; e, Genitalia dorsal v.; f, Genitalia, lateral v.; g, Genitalia, ventral v.; h, Connective, style or styles and aedeagus, dorsal v., with the lateral v. of aedeagus.
