1) The action of acetylcholine on the intact heart of Polycitor mulabilis has been observed. 2) Neither frequency of heart-beats nor reversal of the direction are affeted by the application of normal sea water (Tab.1). 3) High concentrations of acetycholine produce a marked decrease in the frequency of heart-beats in each pulsation center. With the concentration of 1×10^<-4> the heart stops in systolic state. On the other hand, low concentrations increase the rate of abvisceral heart-beats, and they hardly have an effect on the rate of advisceral heart-beats (Tab.2). 4) The action of acetylcholine on the abvisceral center appears to resemble more closely that on the crustacean heart than on the molluscan heart. 5) The direction of advisceral heart-beats generally reverses by the application of acetylcholine (Tab.3). The abvisceral phase after this reversal does not always maintain for long duration. 6) Eserine promotes the action of acetylcholine. Cholinesterase probably exists in the body as indeicated by this action of eserine and acetylcholine (Tab.5).
