The splitting of the species of Genus Triborodon in Japan into three species, T. phalacrocorax(JORDAN and FOWLER), T.hakonensis(GUNTHER), and T. jusanensis(JORDAN and HUBBS)has been abopted by JORDAN and HUBBS, While, on the contrary, TANAKA suggested the amalgamation of all these three species to one species, Leuciscus hakonensis GUNTHER. On account of the characteristics of the difference in number of scales which is proposed by JORDAN and HUBBS, I am able to distinguish above-mentioned three species described by JORDAN and HUBBS, and one more varied from which has 78-82.7-89 scales in lateral line. Considering the correlations among the number of the scales in lateral line and the scales before dorsal fin, the lengths of body and snout, I suggest that four species may be divided into two groups, the one with more than 77-80 scales on the lateral line(including T. phalacrocorax and T.hakonensis) and the one with less than 77-80 scales on the lateral line(including T. jusanensis and the varied from mentioned above). T. hakonensis is widely distributed in Aomori-ken but others are regional as folloes : T. phalacrocorax, Lake Osoreyama ; T. jusanensis, Lake Jusan, near Aomori ? and Province of Mutsu ?(JORDAN and HUBBS 1925). The varied from aforemenyioned, Lake Ogahara, Lake Obuche, Lake Takaka.
