1.Tetramorium caespitum (LINN.) sub-sp. caespitum (sensu stricto). Pseudogyne. Length 4.3mm., 4.0mm. Two specimens were collected st Koriyama, Fukushima-ken, by Mr.C.P.CLAUSEN and myself. They resemble with each other and approach the female in the structure of the thorax. The statures of the hesd and abdomen are same with those of the worker. Without any trace of wings and oceli. 2.Technomyrmex gibbosus WHEELER? Ergatogyne. Length 3.0mm. Head with oceli rather distinct median and minute indistinct lateral. Funicular joints 2-10 broader than long. The thorax with wing vestiges; lenght: the fore 0.5mm., the hind 0.2mm. A single specimen collected by the writer under the burk of a lotten twig in his garden at Osaka. This specimen, in its direction of modification, resembles the Ergatogyne of Viticicola tessmanni (STITZ), described by Prof. WHEELER from Belgian Congo. Macraner. Length 4.0mm. Larger in stature and darker in color than the normal male of the species. A single specimen was found at Morioka, Iwate-ken, in a nest containing about twenty of normal forms. (Aug.22). Another specimen collected at Osaka (Nov.8): length 8.5mm. just emerged, not yet completely colored. 3.Lasius (Chathonolosius)umbratus NYLANDER? β-Female. length 6.5mm. This interesting specimen collected by Mr.OUCHI Y. at Nokkeushi Hakkaido (Aug. 18, 1923) is specialized to the same direction with L.(Dendrolasius) fuliginosus var. spathepus WHEELER and L.(Acanthomyops) latipes WALSH. Funicular joints of atennea longer than broad. Maxillary Palpi 6 jointed, head slightly broader than thorax. Completely lacking erect hairs, except suberect hairs on mandibles and clypeus. Pubescence grayish, fine and appressed covering the whole body and appendages. May be a distinct species. 4.Lasius (Dendrolasius) fuleginosus, LATR.var.spathepus WAEELER (WHEELER: Biol.Bull.19.p.130.1910 ♀ ab.) Worker. Length 4.0-5.0mm. Closely related to L.fuliginosus, but differing in the following points: Antennal scapes and legs more compressed and broadened, espescially so in the meta-tarsi of the middle and hind legs. Petiolar node, seen from behind, broad and with superior border somewhat concaved in the middle, in profile, antero-apical portion obliquely truncate. Pilosity longer and more erect, more outstanding on the appendages, visible on the extensor surfaces of the tibiae. Color of the body, in some specimens, paler than in the typical fuliginosus, dark reddish brown, tarsi and funicular joints of antennae yellowish brown. Numerous specimens of the worker with winged β-females were collected by Mr.TOKURA K. from a single nest at Omori, Tokyo-Fu, (July 1925). FOREL'S var. nipponensis and KARAWAJEW'S var. orientalis are probably same with the var. spathepus.
