The QPSK signal constellation S(4) is represented with the structure of Z_4, the set of integers in modulo 4. The cyclic codes over Z_4 is cnstructed for all the possible monic irreducible polynomials of degree ≤ 4 and code length ≤ 8. Only one example is provided here for code length 6 containing 16 codewords of minimum squared Euclidean distance 12. Multilevel concept is investigated for codes over Z_4 and found that under certain conditions we can construct codes over Z^n_4 from multilevel component codes over Z^n_2. In addition with this, algebraic structure of cyclic codes over Z_4 is also introduced, a similar approach is an alyzed for Z_8 in [1].
