The investigation was designed to find out the relation between the weight-loss during pupal stage and the hatching of the eggs with respect to different host plants on which Diaphania indica Saunders was reared. The results showed that the weight-loss during pupal stage in rearing on differnt host plants was almost the same but the rate of weight-loss differed from host to host. The number of the eggs deposited by the moth was almost the same but the number of the eggs hatched varied from host to host. This suggested that the fertility of this insect was affected by the host plants. The rate of weight-loss per day during preceding pupal stage was found to be inversely proportional to the hatching of the eggs, suggesting the relation HR=K (where H=Hatchability of the eggs, R=rate of weight-loss during preceding pupal stage and K=a constant).
