A fully integrated LC oscillator with miller tuning method has been implemented using 0.8-μm, twin well, double-metal CMOS technology with a high resistivity silicon substrate having a f_<max> of 17 GHz. To achieve wide tuning range, miller tuning method is used instead of varactor diode. A tuning range of 300MHz is achieved. The measured phase noise at 1 MHz offset frequency from 1.7 GHz frequency is -115 dBc/Hz. The total current consumption is 3mA from 3.0V supply except the output buffer.
