In this paper, we propose an interference prediction scheme for power control in packet-switched TDMA wireless networks, which is based on the interacting multiple model (IMM) estimator. Our prediction scheme is adaptive to a wide range of nonstationary dynamic characteristics of the interference power. Compared to Leung's scheme, it can more accurately predict the interference power and more efficiently adjust the transmit power to achieve a desired signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR).
