• The system configuration shown in Fig.1 is desirable in that the centralized SBX can simplify the connection between System Bus(SB) and each IOC. In the case of a load sharing operation between the active processor(system #0)and standby processor (system #1) systems, it is desirable to balance the IOC to active processor/main memory(MM) throughput for system #0 and system #1. We study, by simulation, the Self and Mate-DMA performance of the IOCs from the viewpoint of System Bus Arbitration Algorithms. First, we discuss throughput imbalance and arbitration algorithms of the real system. Second, we discuss the performance evaluation by simulation. Finally, we present results and conclusions of the study.
