Slot coupling in radial line slot antennas with dielectrie layers over the aperture is discussed. Uniform aperture field is designed by using a model consisting of one paired slot in the waveguides with periodic boundary walls in order to simulate external mutual coupling in infinite two-dimensional array. The more general cases for finite size and arbitrary aperture field is analyzed by the spectral domain approach. The analysis are confirmed by measurements at 38 GHz band. The aperture field is unperturbed if the dielectric layer has sufficiently small Fresnel reflection and the spacing between the layer and the slot aperture is more than about 1/8 wavelength ; the design of the slot array can be separated from that for the dielectric layer.
