Multiband antennas are used as an efficient radiator in communication systems for vehicles, satellites and other applications. The low-profile multiband microstrip antenna presented in this paper (multiband FS-MSA) is constructed by mounting the folded slot on the same plane of rectangular microstrip antenna. The design techniques and radiation properties of the multiband FS-MSA are described in this paper. Various experiments were carried out in the C-band to estimate the performance of the antenna. An excellent multiband performance was achieved using the antenna. The computed results obtained from IE3D simulator agreed well with the experimental results. Therefore, this type of FS-MSA element is considered to be an effective model for a multiband planar antenna.
