The LA Symposium is the society of theoretical computer science, and is holding two three-day workshops every year, one in summer and the other in winter. A managing university of the symposium takes charge of office work in turns. The University of Electro-Communications is the managing university for this year, and Nagoya University is for the next year. The main topics of the symposium were "Languages and Automata theories," where the name of the symposium originated, and the research field has spread to larger areas in theoretical computer science.
