In conjunction with coupling-of-modes (COM) theory for leaky surface acoustic wave (LSAW) reflection gratings, admittance parameter modelling is applied to obtain the frequency response of a dual (first/third) longitudinal-mode low-loss RF LSAW resonator filter with thick-film metallization on 64° Y-X lithium niobate, with fractional bandwidth up to 5%. The COM theory is used to obtain the reflection coefficient for a shorted LSAW grating, while the distorted radiation conductances for the input/output IDTs are obtained directly from finger reflection considerations. These parameters are applied to an expanded admittance parameter relationship, as derived by the author, to obtain the predicted frequency response. Good agreement is obtained for both the fractional bandwidth, group delay and insertion loss (IL), when compared with experimental results published by other investigators for 836.5-MHz two- and four-pole resonator filters on this substrate cut, with IL < 2.5dB.
