This paper measures the saturation levels of various food expenditure and its income elasticities at every year from 1980 to 1990 using cross-section data and analyzes this result in time-series. The major findings of this study are as follows : 1)Income elasticities of "cakes and candies" and "cooked food" were almost equal every year. It showed a tendency to decrease on only "eating out," and increase on the other items except "alcoholic beverages" from year to year. This result shows that new food style by modernization of food consumption was saturated, but gaps in eating out expenditure among income class expanded. 2)Items of which saturation level went up from year to year are "cakes and candies," "cooked food" and "eating out." Items which saturation level went down are "fish and shellfish," "vegetables and seaweeds" and "fruits." This result shows that consumer desire for socialized and convenience items was getting high.
