We developed a binaural beat phenomenon generating device (BBP device) which can modulate the pitch by adding and subtracting the frequency of given audio signal. using this device, we produced a binaural beat phenomenon, by presenting differently pitch-modulated music tune to the left ear and the right ear. Seventeen subjects were instructed to listen to a classic music tune several times differently pitch-processed by the BBP device. The frequency difference between both ears ranged from 3 to 8 Hi. We found that "activation" and "relaxation" were significantly increased in the difference of 41. These results may suggest that the binaural beat processing of music is effective in activating and relaxing the mind.
