We herein describe the treatment of three typical patients with spasmodic torticollis, and discuss our classification. Case 1,a 31 year-old female, was treated by biofeedback therapy (BF). However, BF showed little effect and then she was treated by psychotherapeutic interviews. Case 2,a 27 year-old female, was treated very successfully by BF, and was able to control her involuntary movements only by BF. The treatment of Case 3,a 23 year-old female, by BF showed some effects, but her symptoms deteriorated from psychological stress. Hence, she was later treated by the combination of BF and psychotherapeutic interviews. Case 1 was considered to have a borderline personality disorder, Case 2 a functional disorder due to faulty learning, and Case 3 a psychosomatic disorder.
