The rotation of principal axes in a press forming rolled sheet with plastic deformation is identified non-destructively with ultrasonic wave. The object is mild steel sheet 1.4 mm thick, therefore, Rayleigh wave is employed and phase velocity is measured for every five degrees in travel direction. Reference method is employed for the determination of phase velocity using blocks of steel and aluminum as reference materials. Four testpieces are cut from this sheet at an angle of 45 degrees to rolling direction, and strain of 5, 10, 15 and 20% is given by uniaxial tension. It is confirmed that principal axes rotate with deformation retaining being orthogonal while they coincide with rolling and transverse direction of the sheet before the elongation.
