The present author made a neuro-pathological study on the behaviour of the nerve tissues in malignant epithelial tumors induced with 2.0% solution of 9, 10-dimethyl-1, 2-benzanthracene (DMBA) in acetone in the tongue of the Syrian hamster. The results were as follows : 1. In control group, the regenerated nerve fibers extended from the deep portion of muscularis to beneath the marginal epithelium of ulcer. 2. Nerve fibers extended in the stroma of Exophytic type (Ex type) in parallel with tumor growth. 3. When Exophytic type (Ex type) was malignant in the initial stage, nerve fibers extended in the stroma with tumor growth but were hardly seen in the stroma with extreme invasion. 4. In the fungiform papilla of malignant Leukoplakia type (L type), distinct single nerve fibers appeared in the invasive region and nerve fibers were swollen with severe invasion of malignant tumor cells. 5. There was atendancy to distribute nerve tissues in the connective tissues of dysplasia severe type, single nerve fibers appeared in the central portion and nerve bundles ranged from the muscularis to marginal region. 6. Nerve fibers were hardly seen in the stroma of invasive type which was macroscopically Ulcer type (U type). 7. Generally, thick nerve bundles were invaded circumferentialy with malignant tumor cells. 8. In the stroma of carcinoma, single nerve fibers remaind more than nerve bundles.
