Since its independence in 1963, Kenya has attracted considerable attention as one of the success stories of Africa, both politically and economically. However it has also attracted criticism for the growth of inequalities, the accumulations of great wealth by a small elite, and the widespread unemployment of "school leavers". Kenya's economic and social structure was deeply affected firstly from European settlers. Kenya must adopt many things from the West. The purpose of this paper is to examine Kenya's progress and modernization which have been functioning with Western values through conflicts against Kenya's traditional background with emphasis on its educational policy.
