Protochlorophyll a adsorbed on filter paper emits thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), which decays exponentially with a lifetime of 25 ms at 30℃. There was a linear relationship between amount of protochlorophyll a and TADF intensity in the range of 1 to 18 ng/spot. The relative standard deviation inherent in this method for sample containing 18 ng/spot of protochlorophyll a was 4.5% (n=9), and it was also found that the coexistent 65-fold each of chlorophylls a and b did not interfere with the determination of protochlorophyll a.
