A Mesh Network Parallel Computer

With the growing demand for faster computers battling against current technological constraint of the difficulty in economically achieving greater speed for present-day serial computers, the trend has moved towards the use of many microprocessors operating in parallel to achieve speed. This article describes the hardware of an experimental multiprocessor system as part of a project currently in progress in Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. The system, with a new structure, is simplet structure but versatile. It is an attempt at making current personal computers, which are basically serial machines, have access to parallel computing ; and thus make them faster and more capable. To achieve this a multiprocessor unit with an appropriate instructionset is being developed as an attachment to the a personal computer.
