Magnetic and Electrical Properties of (Ce_<1-x>La_x)Pb_2 Heavy Fermion Compounds

Temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity of (Ce_<1-x>La_x)Pb_2 compounds have been investigated in order to study the effect of substituting La for Ce in a heavy fermion system. The effective magnetic moment estimated from the Curie-Weiss law agrees with that of the theoretical travalent Ceion and independent of the La concentration in high temperatures. The temperature dependence of the magnetic contribution to the electrical resistivity continuously changes from a dense to dilute Kondo regime with increasing La concentration. This behavior would be correlated to a reduction of the Kondo temperature by the substitution of La for Ce.
