At the time when the quartz watch was introduced into the market, the primary aim was to secure its function and reliability. Whiele its accuracy was, from the outset, greatly higher than that of the mechanical watch, the appearance, which is a requisite feature for wrist watch, was not so favorable, being thick and large in size, due to the larg volumetric size of the electronic components. After securing the function and reliability, in minimum limit, which are required as the commercial product, the aim was pointed to the improvement of size and performance of every component part. For instance, the size of quartz crystal oscillator was made smaller from 4φ×12 (or 5×3×16) to 1.5φ×5mm. The circuit was multi-chip constituted of the oscillating circtlit, frequency dividing circuit, wave-from regulating circuit and driving circuit. And this was soon made into one-chip and the power consumptionn in cas of an analog Quartz, was decreased from 5 to 0.2μA The power consumption of stepping motor at the one second step running decreased from l0 to 1μA
