This paper concerns with the development of a 4.2 MHz miniature AT-cut quartz resonator for a high accurate wrist watch. Although its diameter is only 4.0mm, the resonator of pure thickness shear mode can be found by being formed in a plano convex shape of a specific curvature. A supporting method only at a side face gives a good resistance against shock for a watch, keeping its low Cl value and its high Q value. And a flat frequency temperature characteristic has been found at a specific cutting angle. Finally this resonator is assembled in a wrist watch and is measured its frequency aging characteristic and the accuracy of a watch under a normal wearing experiment. As a result, it has a good aging characteristic of within l ppm in one year and the indicating error of a watch is within 5 seconds in one year. So it confirms that it is possible to produce such a high accurate watch as 5 seconds deviation in one year.
