There has been strong, demand for development of more precise prediction method of turbine blades forced responses. Recent progresses in CFD give us some sight of possible ways to this problem but final goal is still out of reach. In this paper, the author proposes a simple method to estimate aerodynamic excitation caused by rotor-wake interaction in turbine stages. This method utilizes boundary layer analysis with k-ε turbulence model (Lam-Bremhorst modeD in order to determine the wake form shed from the stator trailing edge, then the wake, decay model is derived, which is incorporated into the author's unsteady flow analysis code. Applying the method to the turbine rotor-stator interaction problem which was previously studied by Dring et al. , effect of rotor-stator axial spacing upon the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of the rotor is investigated in the cases of various free-stream turbulence intensities upstream of the stator.
