Due to the advance in hardware technology, the cost of the small scale processor is ra-pidly decreasing. So, it seems possible to build the computer complex with many small scale computers cheaper than the large scale computer which has the same performance. The computer complex can be classified as a multiprocessor and a distributed system. This paper investigates the performance of the distributed system comparing with the multiprocessor which is constructed with the same number of processors as the distributed system has. The performance condition of the indivisual processor under which the response time of the distributed system is shorter than multiprocessor is also derived.
