The change in pulse rate of guinea pig (narkotised with urethan, fixed on his back) in the experiment (3.5,6g×10", tail→head) was investigated by means of the illustration of ECG.The changes in pulse rate are divided into two types, i.e. "Increased type" (mainly) and "Decreased type" (partially).i. Increased type : Generally the pulse rate shows the increase during exposure to the acceleration and indicates the maximum increase (%) at 5 sec. after the onset of exposure to the constant g. (3.5 or 6g.) and on the rest stage of the exposure it tends to a slight decrease.The maximum increase (%) seems to be smaller than that in the same kind of experiment which acceler. is directed from head to tail respectively. Since the stage of the decrease of acceler., the pulse rate further decreases in course of time. Cases of A type : In many cases, the pulse rate returns to the original rate within 20 sec. after the cessation of centrifugalization. Cases of B type (The pulse rate once decreases below the original rate, and then increases twards it) : In many cases, it returns within 40 sec. after the cessation of centrifugalization.ii. Decreased type : Generally the pulse rate hardly changes in the former half stage of exposure to the constant g. (3.5 or 6g), but hence begins to decrease gradually. It indicates the maximum decrease (%) below the original rate in the duration from the end stage of the exposure till 5 sec. after the cessation of centrifugalization respectively, and then it begins to increase. In many of cases, the pulse rate returns to original rate in 10〜25 sec. after the cessation of centrifugalization. The maximum decrease (%) seems to be greater under exposure to 6g. than 3.5g., and in the hot than the cold season.Appearance of arrhythmia (E. S., Sinus arrhythmia, Atrioventricular block etc) was found in 8 cases out of 59,and in the hot season alone. The frequency of its appearance is likely greater under exposure to 6g. than 3.5g.
