An analytical method to estimate the reliability of R/C chimneys in along wind motion is presented, which utilizes a suitable white noise approximation of the wind load process. Nonlinear damping effects are included in the analysis and excursion and fatigue failure modes are considered. Excursion probabilities are evaluated using the concept of a "two-step-memory" process and its results compared to simulation results.
