The Intellectual Distributed Processing System (IDPS) is a declarative distributed system which has no centralized mechanism. System elements in IDPS are independently declared, and system objectives are achieved through cooperation among them. Therefore, highly adaptive, expansible, reliable and maintainable distributed systems can be easily realized. In order to realize these properties, a system element's location, existence and replication transparencies are important. Therefore, the IDPS operating system (IDPS-OS) adopts an object oriented model and a broadcast communication. That is, the IDPS-OS is a broadcast based object oriented distributed operating system. Every system element, which also includes OS functions, is described as an object and cooperates with other elements by using a broadcast communication. This paper describes mechanisms for realizing these transparencies in the following aspects: 1) Object configuration, 2) Communication mechanism among objects, 3) Fault-Tolerant mechanism and 4) Performance evaluation result.
