Kinetic study was made on the fermentation of n-oaraffin assimilating fungi, Fusarium sp. No. 5-128,for the production of alkaline protease. The microorganism showed dimorphism from mycelial to yeast cell form during the fermentation. Alkaline protease was produced particularly by the yeast form cells. The modified equation for the production rate of alkaline protease was derived from the general equation reported previously by the authors, by introducting the apparent ratio of the yeast form, Ψ. Fermentation characteristic values were obtained under different fermentation conditions using a 2,000 l fermentor. The coefficients of growth rate and production rate showed complex relationships with fermentation temperature. The time course of optimal temperature through the fermentation was estimated from the modified equation. By applying the results of kinetic estimation, a high potency of alkaline protease was obtained.
