体育・スポーツの国際比較を目的とする比較体育・スポーツ研究への関心が年々高まってきており，比較体育・スポーツの学（discipline）としての確立と発展が期待されている。本研究では比較体育・スポーツ学確立に資する基礎的研究の第一段階として，親学問である比較教育学に着目し，特に今回は比較教育学の定義（特色）と目的に焦点をあて，その理論的根拠を明らかにするとともに比較体育・スポーツ学への適用を試み，さらに比較体育・スポーツ学独自の定義・目的との関連を検討した。その結果，定義と目的に関して比較教育学と比較体育・スポーツ学が密接な関連を持つことが再確認された。Comparative physical education and sport is the younger research field of physical education.This study is the first stage of basic studies on comparative physical education and sport which is expected to approve and develop as a sub-discipline of physical education.The purposes of this study are to clarify the difinitions and aims of comparative education as the parent discipine of comparative physical education and sport and examine the relationship between them of comparative physical education and sport.As a rusult,it is reconfirmed that there is a close connection between comparative education and comparative physical education and sport concerning the difinitions and aims.
