The writer has been doing a music therapy for mentally disordered children at the welfare facility "OTAGAWA GAKUEN" every Saturday. This activity has been conducted as music therapy practices for the students of the college. This paper reports these activities between May, 2002 and February, 2004, and reveals various problems of them and trys to improve the therapeutic activities. It is certainly true that these activities have brought some effects on these children, who were hardly able to participate in group activities, but we haven't been able to assure that how these effects remain in there daily lives. From now on, it would be necessary for us to deepen the partnership with the facility and also their parents observing the effects. In terms of music therapy practice, there are some problems. One major problem is that students have few experiences in music therapy. So they couldn't make good use of music, however, it's necessary for them to take enough lessons in the class. Another problem is lying on the circumstances around music therapy. To make the circumstances better, we should popularize the music therapy more, and also should fulfill the needs of therapists in the fields. Now the activities which welfare facilities need doesn't necessarily fit into those of music therapists, but we will improve these activities step by step, with mutual communication.
