Behavior of the falling liquid film of high-viscosity and low-surface tension fluid was examined focusing on the film thickness and the initiation of entrainment. The mean film thickness of the silicone film as well as the water film was well expressed by applying the universal velocity profile to the velocity distribution in the film. The entrainment was in initiated at much lower air velocity in the silicone film than in the water film. The existing correlations for the onset of entrainment largely overpredicted it for the silicone film as well as for the water film.
