641 Measurement of variation in Young's modulus after large deformation and simulation of Its influence on Springback Characteristic during bending

• The springback of sheet metal depends on mechanical properties of material such as elastic modulus, dimensions of workpiece and deformation process, and furthermore the elastic modulus also changes with large plastic deformation. A precision extensometer by using laser interferometer was developed for measurement of Yung's modulus before and after plastic deformation in this study. Young's modulus before and after plastic deformation was measured continuously in a tensile test. It is found that Young's modulus decreased by 20% accompany plastic deformation. Young's modulus decrease was also reconfirmed by ultrasonic test. The varied Young's modulus was employed to calculated springback by FE simulation and as a result, the accuracy of springback calculation was significantly improved in comparison with simulation with a constant Young's modulus.
