The Performance of the applications using solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) membrane, such as fuel cell, is remarkably dependent on wetness of its membrane. Therefore, it is important to understand the transport mechanics of water molecules in the SPE membrane and to grasp the distribution of water molecules there. In this study the concentration distribution of water molecules and its evolution in the SPE membrane was measured by magnetic resonance imaging with a high S/N using heavy water instead of light water, and with 100μm space and 10s time resolution. In the experiment using a wetted-membrane as an initial condition, the water diffusivity in the membrane was estimated with 0.8×^<-10>m^2/s at an activity of 1. In the experiment using a dried-membrane as an initial condition, the relatively fast transport of the water molecule in the membrane was observed. This phenomena was considered to be caused by advection effect and was represented in the diffusivity of 5×10^<-10>m^2/s.
