A sodium heat pipe has been made and its operation is investigated. The amount of the working fluid is about 18% of the total volume of a heat pipe. The calculated value of Frozen Start-up Limit (FSL) for the manufactured sodium heat pipe is 3.7. The performance of the heat pipe has been tested by using an electrical furnace with heat input range of 700〜1020W. Heat is transferred from a heat pipe to the room air. The room temperature was approximately 12℃. The sodium heat pipe has been successfully operated at the range of temperature higher than a transition temperature.
