The fatigue crack growth experiments were conducted in the near-threshold and sub-threshold regions for a type 304 austenitic stainless steel at 550 (℃). The behavior of fatigue crack growth rate da/dN was investigated after an increase in ΔK and/or K_<max> for a crack in a threshold condition. Crack grew even in the region below the threshold value obtained by using the conventional ΔK-decreasing test. The loading frequency dependence of da/dN in the near-threshold and sub-threshold regions was investigated by inter-specimen comparison, which compared da/dN at 30 and 3 (Hz) in two specimens under otherwise the same loading conditions. To realize intra-specimen comparison, loading frequency was changed from 30 (Hz) to 3 (Hz), and from 3 (Hz) to 30 (Hz) in a specimen. The loading frequency effect was observed. The crack growth rate da/dN at 3 (Hz) was higher than that at 30 (Hz), although the magnitude of the effect was small or significant depending on the loading conditions.
