There are main Damage by creep voids in Coarse and fine grain areas, and by micro-cracks caused Creep-fatique for High Temperature Section of Boiler. The diagnosis system is able to adapt to their main Damage, and It is able to observe quickly and reliably the high temperature section of boiler, recognize automatically creep and creep-fatigue damage, and determine the residual life on site employing a small laser microscope developed for this purpose. To be concrete, the weld-heat-affected zone is observed through the laser microscope, and the data are introduced into the image processing unit and the creep voids are automatically recognized. The area of the recognized voids is calculated in the process. Approximately 50 fields per diagnosis area (1mm^2) are automatically observed, without an overlapping at the boundary of images. The area fraction of voids and maximum micro crack length are then calculated. The residual life is instantly evaluated, further, we developed "Maximum Fraction of Voids on the Grain Boundary Line Parameter" that it was able to diagnose residual life high accurately and high sensitively in Coarse Grain Areas, and, Now we include it in Residual Life Diagnosis System. With this system, a diagnosis time can be drastically reduced and repairs quickly could be made. This system will contribute to extend the service lives of equipments, which in turn will reduce power generating cost. Moreover, an improved reliability can be expected as a result of the proper preventive maintenance.
