An accurate dynamics simulation of transmission cable was considered to be difficult due to the existence of non-linearity such as contact and friction between the inner cable and its outer casing. Authors developed a method to efficiently investigate effects of various design parameters of the trransmission cable. Specifically, excitation test of the cable system was performed to study effects of the cable layout and lubriction. Linear finite element model was used to successfully simulate frequency responses measured during the excitation test and was subsequently used to examine effects of various design parameters.
