We have made numerical analysis for the piezoelectric vibratory gyroscope using flexural vibration of a resonator with a square cross section. The gyroscope is widely applied to an angular rate sensor in a car navigation system. The aim of this paper is to study how to adjust the two natural frequencies in a resonator to a degenerate mode by means of some trimming (fine adjustment by cutting). In addition, in order to make clear an effect of shift angle (change in the vibrating direction) of the resonator with steady-state forced vibration, we have analyzed the shift angle of vibrating mode quantitatively by Finite Element Method. As a result, we have had a method of fine adjustment for the degenerate mode, and we have revealed the relation between shift angle with free vibration and that with forced vibration.
