An experimental study of cavitation damage was carried out in tap water in a uniform magnetic field, using an electrostrictive vibratory apparatus. The magnetic field effects on the weight loss and surface roughness of test materials were clarified for SUS304 stainless steel and S15C carbon steel specimens. In addition, the states of cavitation were instantaneously photographed on the specimen surface with an exposure time of 2Ons to clarify the magnetic field effects on the mechanism of the damage.
