Slip line fields or some kinematically admissible fields in a wedge compressed by a rough rigid flat die are obtained, where the wedge has any inclination to the die face and the linear motion of the die is in an arbitrary direction. Each of the slip line fields, which have been classified into three modes of deformation in the previous report, is further divided into three cases, depending on the magnitude of friction. A moderate method of obtaining kinematically admissible fields is proposed for the case where Coulomb frictional stress is uniform. It does not necessarily follow that the calculated loads on the basis of the kinematically admissible fields are the upper bounds to the actual loads because of the finite deformation problem, and therefore the validity of the approximation is examined from numerical results.
